Wowing the crowds
Aside from all the state-of-the-art electronics on hand, what usually goes unnoticed, is the amount of time, effort and expertise that goes into creating an acoustically-sound enviornment. Consider that each one of these rooms looked the same prior to setup. As expected, many sounded quite enjoyable while other did not. Specialized isolation racks, platforms and feet, AC conditioners and acoustic harmonizers and resonators (like the Novum above, Stein and Bybee iQSE’s for example) were all on display at this year’s High End. For me, the feeling was more like walking into someone’s personal listening room rather than just an adjacent room right next door.
