German Physiks
and Vitus teamed up at this year's RMAF with
very successful results. Here's the
Borderland omni-directionals ($35k),
strapped to a pair of Vitus SM-010 monos
($50k), SL-10 pre ($28k) and SCD-010 CD
player ($20k). As one might expect from a
360-degree dispersion capable loudspeaker:
in addition to the extra air and
ambience...there's no sweet-spot issues
whatsoever!

Want that
360-degree feel without having to spend too
much $$$$? An affordable alternative is Blue
Circle's Penny loudspeaker ($5k to $6.5k)

An open
baffle lowther-based concept loudspeaker
being driven by a Nelson Pass designed First
Watt model J2 amplifier ($4k).

High Water
Sound pulled no punches in their assault on
exotic high-end, high-caliber sound. And
trust me, the did not disappoint. The wares
featured were the TW Acoustic turntable
($40k), and Tommy Horning's 97-dB
lowther-based Eufrodite MK3 loudspeakers
($28k) packing four-8" woofers. Sound? As
usual was very natural, yet not too laid
back and full of that realistic perspective
I get whenever sitting in front of a such a
dynamic transducer.

Exotic
looking products were abound at this year's
RMAF. Here's the Feastrex driven Lumination
loudspeakers ($24k) from AFFIRM Audio
(formally Maxxhorn) with Ayon tubes.
