Electrocompaniet drew a lot of attention with their Maestro all-in-one Blu-Ray, audio/video streamer, Internet Radio, FM tuner and three-channel integrated amplifier (with wireless options for rear-channel speakers). Like PS Audio Perfect Wave components, it will interesting to see what the Maestroo will look like when it becomes commercially available.

One of my favorite loudspeakers for the money is the Audes Blues ($3k) shown here with the Chapter Audio Precis preamp, Sonnet CD Player and their newest 500-watt Couplet stereo amplifier ($50k).

I have to admit, the Usher series of loudspeakers and electronics looks and sounds far more expensive than their asking price.

Volent's new 4-way model VL3.5 ($20k) gave very high marks in the very important department of musicality. Equipped with some rather unique components including amplification from Bladelius, and new Abis Model C-120 preamp from Japan. MSB's Platinum DAC handled the Nova Physics Memory Player flawlessly and together produced a sound that kept me seated much longer than I had anticipated. One of the better sounding setups at this years show.

The high-gloss Vandersteen 4-way Model 7s ($45k) proved a sonic delight this year, no matter their vivid colors or the electronics (Ayre or Aesthetix) guiding them. I like the curves, size and shape of this model more than any other from Richard Vandersteen's line up, past or present. A magnificent blend of beauty and performance.
