They say beauty lies in the eye of the beholder? Here's just a smidgeon of the unusual loudspeaker designs I saw walking the show...

This little Cube is from the same folks from Sweden who make the stunningly attractive sounding (and expensive $375k) Perfect 8 loudspeaker. This little tyke, which almost fits into the palm of my hand, was shown as a static display at earlier events so I was very interested in finally hearing what it could do. Sound quality was really impressive: much bigger than one would ever suspect from only a glance. I thought $9k was asking a lot - considering it was from the same makers of the Perfect 8 - what do you expect? Then it occurred to me I wasn't hearing the price correctly...that the right price is a ridiculous $90,000 US dollars per pair!!! I bet that makes the Cube the most expensive loudspeaker "pound for pound"  in the world.

Gallo Acoustics. Back in the day, if I bought something like this home my mom, after noticing the woofer, would be chasing me through the house with a bread-roller, trying to get at me about what became of her favorite roasting pan!

Get out the Windex! Crystal Cable showed a static prototype of their new glass mini-monitor that I will hopefully get to hear at the upcoming Munich High-End show in Spring.
